Friday Finds: Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery

January 28, 2011

Rudi's Gluten-free BakeryI arrived home the other day to a fabulous gluten-free sample package to review for a Friday Finds post from Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery. What a delicious treat. If you haven’t tried a loaf from Rudi’s you must. This bread is fabulous. You won’t believe you are eating store bought bread. It is like eating Bob’s Red Mill GF Homemade Wonderful Bread without all of the work. It is moist and hearty with just a subtle hint of sweetness. Because it is moist, you can eat this bread straight out of the bag without having to toast it – unlike so many gluten-free breads on the market. But if you are like me and you love a nice piece of toast, Rudi’s toasts perfectly with a crisp golden exterior that doesn’t break into a dozen pieces on your plate. I highly recommend making a gluten-free grilled cheese sandwich or cheddar, turkey, apple melt with this bread. Because it is thick, it doesn’t burn quickly so you get a delicious warm golden brown sandwich of melted cheesy goodness.

In case you haven’t heard, Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery just launched a special program to support the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA). As many of you  know, there are an estimated 3 million people in the U.S. suffering from Celiac disease, yet only 160,000 are diagnosed. Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery is working with NFCA to support education for the diagnosis of Celiac disease, with their new Spread the Bread Charitable Program, which launched in late December. For every dollar coupon downloaded, Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery will give a dollar to the NFCA, up to $20,000, to help in its efforts to better educate physicians in the diagnosis of Celiac disease. Coupons are available on the Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery website and Facebook Page.

You can also check them out at the Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery Website. There you will find helpful information like their new gluten-free breads, local availability, gluten-free events, gluten-free recipes, links to partners and educational resources for Celiacs. They have also launched a new blog, Baked on the Bright Side, which is now listed in Gluten Free Table’s Blogroll in the right column of this page. Check it out to read up on the latest news from Rudi’s Gluten-Free Bakery and the gluten-free community.
